Witchita, Kansas: Cinema Outside at the Brickyard in Witchita, Kansas
If you're looking for music at an all-ages venue, check out the Riverside Perk, 11th and Bitting, this weekend. Tonight, the band Hellbound Henry, whose throwback-style mixes up the best in 1950s music and fashion, will perform. And on Saturday, check out instrumental masterminds Elliot Road, whose music is a blend of acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonica, banjo, piano, bass, concertina and various percussion. The shows start at 8 p.m. both nights. Admission is free.
The welcome warmth of summer also brings with it the addition of movies al fresco -- films screened in outdoor venues. Moviegoers have two opportunities to enjoy open air cinema outside this week.
The Vagabond at 614 W. Douglas will screen "Grosse Point Blank" at 8 p.m. Monday. Then on Thursday, the Tallgrass Film Festival will kick off its outdoor film series at the Brickyard, 129 N. Rock Island, with an 8 p.m. screening of the 1930s classic "It Happened One Night."
Food and drink specials will be offered, and all ages are welcome. Admission is free to both movies.
