Top 25 Outdoor Movies: Pirates of the Caribbean
Up next on our Top 25 Outdoor Movies of All Time: Pirates of the Caribbean. The saga currently stands at 3 films (with a 4th in production slated to be released in 2011) which include The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, and At World's End. The trilogy would definitely make an awesome outdoor movie series, so much that it deserves a spot on our Top 25 list. But before we go into the details of why this is such a great film for outdoor movies, here is the trailer for The Curse of the Black Pearl:
Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley are the main stars of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, playing Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Elizabeth Swann respectively. The series begins with The Curse of the Black Pearl, as Elizabeth Swann is captured by the captain of the black pearl, as be believes she can help him escape a curse he and his shipmates received after stealing Aztec gold. Over the next two films, the same characters sail around the world evading pirates, leaders of the East India Trading Company, villainous sea monsters, and a host of other characters.
The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy is a non-stop action filled ride that will keep your community members coming back for each successive screening. The films are attractive to the entire family, as they are no doubt loved by kids everywhere, but also by teenagers and parents. When screening the films, you might just get your largest crowds of the year!
Pirates of the Caribbean presents many opportunities for pre-outdoor movie activities and events. Above almost any film on our Top 25 list, the Pirates trilogy allows for some really great costume contests to take place! Imagine how many of your audience members would show up dressed up like Jack Sparrow or Davy Jones. As we've stated many times before, costume contests and games are a great opportunity to give away prizes from local businesses and sponsors!
Your MC could even dress up as a different character at each of the three screenings. Jack Sparrow makes a great character for an MC, and will make the experience memorable for your entire community. Themed concessions and a number of games could all be centered around the pirate theme.
Pirates presents some really great opportunities for making your event more than a movie screening - these films present an opportunity to fully immerse your audience and community in the setting of the film, ultimately creating memories that they will keep with them for a very long time.
Again, as with other Disney Movies, you'll need to check with Swank Motion Pictures Inc. to make sure the licensing is available for the dates you'd like to screen the films. You'll want to plan far in advance to make sure you obtain licensing, as well as making the most of your publicity campaign to ensure you get as many community members to your event. They won't want to miss out on these screenings!
As always, if you've screened any or all of the Pirates of the Caribbean films as outdoor movies, even in your own backyard, we'd love to hear your story. Share in the comments section below, or email us at community@openaircinema.us.
