Mercer Island, Washington: Free Outdoor Movie Presented By Mercer Island Parks and Recreation
As the harvest moon dips behind the trees and daylight slips away, there is a moment of darkness settling over the crowd. But then: the screen lights up like a beacon in the darkness and illuminates the smiles that have jumped up on childrens' faces.
The stars are still visible as cinematic music introduces that night's film, accompanied by the harmonies of breezes in the trees, late-night birdsong, and far-away cars speeding past. Here the movie joins the tapestry of a community park in twilight, it's colors and storyline intertwining with the fabric of the stars and trees and families below.
A community gathers together to enjoy something special: outdoor movies in the park. You too can enjoy the magical experience of outdoor cinema this month in Mercer Island, Washington. Mercer Island Parks and Recreation department will be presenting summer night outdoor movie festivities in the park!
This is a family-friendly event and it is free. Movie-goers should bring blankets and chairs, and flashlights are recommended as a safety precaution. Concessions will also be sold on-site. Ratatouille will be screened on Aug. 16, and Meet the Robinsons will be shown on Aug. 23; movies start at dusk (or around 8:00pm).
