New Jersey Cities Show Outdoor Movies at 'National Night Out Against Crime' Events
Cities all over the state of New Jersey are participating in the "National Night Out Against Crime" with community events in parks and recreation areas. Check your local news sources to find out dates of events in a city near you. The community activities are usually organized by local law enforcement and/or parks and recreation departments. They usually include fun, family-friendly games, vendors, concerts, and other activities to acquaint residents with safety procedures and their local law officers. The best cities are including outdoor movie screenings in the park as a fun finale to the day.
The city of Livingston police department will be one of the groups hosting their "National Night Out Against Crime", and they will be screening an outdoor film at Livingston Memorial Park on South Livingston Avenue this Tuesday. Come the whole day to enjoy free food, games, a DJ and dancing, and stay late as the outdoor cinema will begin at sundown.
The city of Newark will also be presenting their Night Out this Tuesday, but Newark residents will actually have four movies to choose from at four separate outdoor locations around the city. "Madagascar - Escape 2 Africa" will screen at Branch Brook Park; "Hotel for Dogs" at Independence Park; "The Longshots" at Weequahic Park; and "Kung Fu Panda" at West Side Park. Bring a picnic and a blanket, and the movies will begin at approximately 8:30pm.
If you live in or near Springfield, you are one of the lucky New Jersey residents to enjoy an open air cinema screening as well. At 9 p.m. this Tuesday, the movie "Happy Feet" will be shown at Meisel Avenue Park. Don't miss this opportunity to see a favorite family-friendly movie under the stars, as well as become better acquainted with your friendly neighborhood police department. This will be a great experience for children to learn that police are here to help, and are an important part of the community. And the outdoor movie is free!
