Summer is about to end. These days are the last chances to enjoy open-air cinema excitement. Istinye Sadi Gülçelik Sports Complex's Enka Eşref Denizhan open-air theater, which opened the season in the beginning of August, offers this chance until Sept. 15. So bring your blanket and catch a cool flick on a giant outdoor movie screen.
Open air cinemas have been among the essential pleasures of summer nights for years. Seeing the sun go down while sipping a Coke and watching one of the latest movies or a good oldie is a fabulous way to pass the time. It is summer in Istanbul go out and enjoy it while it lasts.
The Turkish Daily News has visited one of the city's open air theaters and forecasts a great night out. So bring your blanket and catch a cool flick on a giant outdoor movie screen.
This year's Enka Summer Event in Istanbul runs until Tuesday at the Istinye Sadi Gülçelik Sports Complex's Enka Eşref Denizhan open air theater. There are just two days left to experience this open air cinema, so don't wait.
The first showing Friday is "Zohan" at 9:15 p.m. Then, at midnight, the screen will show "Pathology."
Saturday's closing show is a Turkish film called "KabadayД±." It will also begin at 9:15 p.m.
This event is organized and hosted by TД±lsД±m YД±lmaz. It is the first time we did this. We rent this theater for the summer and screen different movies every night.
Turkish people as well as foreigners can see the screenings because movies are screened in their own language with Turkish subtitles, said YД±lmaz.
Tickets can be purchased at the entrance or through Biletix and cost YTL 10.
Refreshments and snacks are available just outside the theater area. Just follow the flaming torches on the side to reach the snack bar. There is a nice terrace with colorful pillows spread around. Lie down and relax during the intermission to complete your summer night out.
Directions
Take the metro to the final Levent stop and from there take a taxi or dolmuЕџ to Istinye Park Shopping Center. From there walk up (about a hundred meters) to the left until you arrive at a sports complex. Walk down the hill and you will see the amphitheater on your right.
